It would seem that cloud computing is a revolution in information technology. Yes and no.
You see, from the perspective of the end user computing has always been in the cloud; and the IT department has been the cloud provider. Yes, the end-user has always been a user of cloud services.
With that perspective, the greatest change represented by cloud computing services is the acquisition model and the way in which the IT department may interact with these cloud providers. This change will force IT departments to become highly skilled in vendor management, architecture, and measuring customer satisfaction. In turn, this will require that these IT departments either build the management systems that will facilitate this or partner with a company that provides this operational “umbrella”.
